Accelerated Program Qualifying Courses

A flexible learning option to qualify for the CMA Accelerated Program

To be eligible for the Accelerated Program, candidates must have a post secondary degree and have achieved a minimum grade of 60% in the following CMA required topics: 

  • Introductory Management Accounting
  • Introductory Financial Accounting
  • Economics (Micro and Macro)
  • Statistics
    Canadian Business Law*

CMA Ontario now offers these courses online to qualify for the Accelerated Program.

* Canadian Business Law will be offered by CMA Ontario online as of May 2012. Please note, a free condensed bridging manual/program will be made available to all Accelerated program students entering the program between January 2012 and October 2013 if they have not already completed the requirement through a Canadian university degree program. 

Are you missing pre-requisite courses to qualify for the Accelerated Program?

Should you need to complete these pre-requisites, courses are offered by CMA Ontario in an online learning format. This flexible learning option allows you to receive CMA credit as a pre-requisite for the Accelerated Program for the course topic upon successful completion of the course.

The course fee includes a textbook, access to online quizzes, and a final exam. Students will also receive lesson notes outlining the objectives of each chapter.

Eligibility Requirements

Introductory Financial Accounting, Economics (Micro and Macro), Statistics and Canadian Business Law is open to all students who wish to complete this course. Students wishing to register for Introductory Management Accounting must already have one of the following:

  1. Completion of the Introductory Financial Accounting pre-requisite through completion of CMA Ontario's online Introductory Financial Accounting course with a minimum grade of 60%, or
  2. Completion of the Introductory Financial Accounting pre-requisite through completion of an undergraduate course* with a minimum grade of 60%, or
  3. Completion of the Introductory Financial Accounting pre-requisite through completion of a graduate course* with a minimum grade of 70%.

Students will not be permitted to register in both the Introductory Management Accounting and Introductory Financial Accounting courses concurrently.

Evaluation

Evaluation for each course is based on:

  • Online quizzes – 40% of final grade
  • Final exam – 60% of final grade
  • Students must achieve a minimum grade of 60% to pass the course

Final exams will be available in centres across Ontario, eight times per year to fit your schedule. You may enroll at any time, and are provided six months from the date of registration to complete each course.
