Fees: U of T Mississauga MMPA/CMA Combined Program Welcome to a winning academic opportunity that enables you to become a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) while earning a Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA) at the University of Toronto Mississauga in collaboration with the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. This dual accomplishment was made possible in June, 2003 when administrators from this prestigious business school and Certified Management Accountants of Ontario realized they shared a strikingly similar focus. The courses required to become a CMA were included in the MMPA syllabus and met the designation's high accreditation standards. Consequently, a combined program was born that enables students to benefit from its dual offering. The MMPA, combined with the prestigious CMA professional designation, provides a double-edged advantage in today's competitive job market. We invite you to explore this lucrative opportunity to concurrently pursue the CMA designation while earning the MMPA degree - eliminating the need for an additional two years of course materials and work experience to qualify. As MMPA students, you are exempt from two steps of the CMA accreditation process as your curriculum covers the required material. These include the CMA Entrance Exam and the two-year Strategic Leadership Program. How Do You Benefit? Marketability for senior level positions dramatically increases with a professional accounting designation, a fact confirmed through a survey of job placement ads for accounting and senior management positions placed in several Ontario newspapers. Our findings confirmed that 85% of them sought candidates with a professional accounting designation. CMAs are active in virtually every aspect of business operations. As leaders in management accounting, our expertise is grounded in three pillars of foundational knowledge: accounting, management and strategy. Our capacity to independently focus on each element or, alternatively, to amalgamate information from all three, is becoming increasingly relevant to today's business environment. Our ability to breathe life into numbers by understanding their implications and making strategic decisions based on them, adds tremendous value to any department of any business. Many CEOs and CFOs are CMAs whose abilities as articulate communicators, team players, creative thinkers and problem solvers met the criteria required for these leadership positions. Our expertise is initially gleaned through an academic approach that is later reinforced through practical application in real world situations. Armed with this unique blend of text book and applied learning, newly-certified CMAs hit the ground running and quickly find employment opportunities in any number of fields. In short, CMAs are products of a rigorous accreditation program and they have earned widespread respect for their range of abilities in accounting, management and strategy. CMA Canada Case Exam & Board Report In addition to completing the 27-month MMPA program, candidates must also demonstrate that their business and accounting knowledge can be put to practical use by passing the CMA Canada Case Exam and Board Report. The CMA Case Examination is a four-hour integrated case study that may be written in either May or August. For the comprehensive Board Report, you will be assigned to a team for completion of both a written submission and a 30 minute presentation. During the process, which runs annually from March to July, CMA Ontario will provide the necessary information required to complete both components. The written submission is due in June and the verbal presentation will take place in late June or July. All candidates must achieve a minimum grade of 60% on both the CMA Case Exam and the Board Report.
