Free transcript evaluation

If you are a resident of Canada, the first step in pursuing your CMA designation is to submit a copy of your university or college applied degree transcripts to the CMA Accreditation department for a free evaluation. Simply print and complete our fillable transcript evaluation cover sheet and mail, fax or email your documents to the CMA Accreditation department. Be sure to include detailed contact information (e-mail, postal addresses and telephone numbers).

The following documentation should be included with the transcript coversheet:

  1. University or college applied degree transcript(s); and

  2. Proof of graduation for any degree(s) you hold. Acceptable documentation includes:
  • An official transcript showing the specific date your degree was granted; or
  • A copy of the degree certificate or letter from the institution's Registrar's Office which states the date the degree was granted.

Within 15 to 20 business days, you will receive a Transcript Evaluation Report by mail. This report will indicate the Pre-requisite Studies topics that you have completed as well as those that are still outstanding, if any, to become eligible for the Accelerated Program or Entrance Examination.


Conditional Enrollment in a CMA Program

If you are a full–time university or college applied degree student in your final semester of study and are interested in enrolling in an upcoming intake of a CMA program (e.g the Accelerated Program or the Entrance Exam & Preparation Program) you are required to submit proof of enrollment in the pre-requisite(s) that you have in progress, along with transcripts showing completed courses.

The following is acceptable documentation for proof of enrollment that should be submitted along with your transcripts:

If you have pre-requisite course(s) in progress:

  • A letter from your institution's Registrar's Office outlining courses in progress with expected date of completion  
  • A transcript(s) indicating the current pre-requisite(s) in progress

If your degree is in progress:

  • A letter from your institution's Registrar's Office indicating the expected date of conferral

* Please note that final grades for enrolled courses must be submitted before the start of the Accelerated Program or prior to attempting the CMA Entrance Examination.*

If you have courses outstanding to become eligible for the Entrance Examination, CMA Ontario will provide information on how you can complete them through convenient part-time study. Our Accelerated Program, for example, enables eligible candidates to qualify for the Entrance Examination in seven months of intensive part-time study. To research Ontario universities and courses that satisfy the CMA Required Topics, please visit Your University Courses. Please note that not all universities offer part-time or continuing studies courses. Once you have reviewed our pre-requisite studies charts, you may contact any university directly to inquire about their specific course offerings.

Once CMA Ontario has evaluated your transcripts, you will be eligible to apply for membership with CMA Ontario. As a member of CMA Ontario, you will be entitled to a wide range of resources and services that will assist you in developing your career. If you do not yet reside in Canada, you may have copies of your transcript evaluated and, if approved, enroll in the CMA Program located in the province where you will choose to live. Transcripts must be translated into English or French.

Simply print and complete the transcript evaluation cover sheet and mail or fax it with a copy of your transcripts to CMA Ontario for a free evaluation. Be sure to include your e-mail and postal addresses and telephone numbers.

Within 4 to 6 weeks, you will receive a Transcript Evaluation Report by mail. This report will indicate the Pre-requisite Studies topics that you have completed as well as those you need to complete, if any, to become eligible for the CMA Entrance Examination.
